SWIMMING - Michael Phelps is 27 years old today. Phelps is already regarded as one of the greatest swimmers of all time, having broken numerous world records and won multiple gold medals at both World Championships and Olympic Games. “The Flying Fish” was the youngest American male swimmer at the Olympic Games of the age of 15 years in 2000 Sydney Games. After that he won 16 Olympic medals, 14 gold medals and two bronze medals. One to watch in London.

TENNIS - If Roger Federer reaches the final at Wimbledon his projected points total for the post-Wimbledon ATP rankings will be 10,275. Since the current leader (Novak Djokovic) already has 10,370 projected points, Federer must somehow overtake that total. A Federer overall victory will give him 11,075 points. In that scenario, the draw dictates that Djokovic cannot accumulate more than 11,000 points, since his best possible result would be reaching the semifinals.

CYCLING - George Hincapie is 39 years old today. On Saturday, the New Yorker will start his 17th Tour de France, setting a new record and surpassing the old mark of 16 by Holland’s Joop Zoetemelk. Hincapie, Lance Armstrong’s former right hand, has finished 15 of the previous 16 Tours he started. If he finishes this, he will equal another Zoetemelk record.
