FOOTBALL - Mario Gómez is 27 years old today. Gomez is considered one of Europe’s top strikers today and was among Euro 2012’s top scorers on three goals. With Bayern Munich he is a two-time runner-up in the UEFA Champions League (2009/2010 and 2011/2012). In 2011, he was Bundesliga’s Golden Boot winner on 28 goals. He has won the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich and VfB Stuttgart.

CYCLING - Federico Bahamontes is 84 years old today. Bahamontes, nicknamed the ‘Eagle of Toledo’ was an iconic climber. He was King of the Mountains twice in the Vuelta a España, once in the Giro d’Italia and six times in the Tour de France. In 1959 Bahamontes won the Tour de France’s General Classification and the yellow jersey.
