REVIEW: Huntelaar 1st Dutch Bundesliga top scorer
FOOTBALL - Klaas-Jan Huntelaar ended the Bundesliga season on 29 goals for Schalke 04. He became the first top scorer in the Bundesliga from the Netherlands.
- With two goals today, he equalled Klaus Fischer’s club record for most goals in a Bundesliga season. Fischer scored his 29 goals for Schalke in 1975/76.
- The last player to score 29+ goals in a single Bundesliga season is Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, who scored 29 goals for Bayern München in 1980/81.
- Last season, Mario Gomez was the Bundesliga top scorer with 28 goals.
- The only other Schalke players who had the most goals in a single Bundesliga season besides Huntelaar were Fischer in 1975/76 (29 goals) and Ebbe Sand in 2000/01 (22 goals).
