  • The record for most league goals in a top flight season in Spain, Germany, Italy and England is 60 set by Dixie Dean (Everton) in 1927/28.
  • Messi scored his 14th La Liga hat-trick, which broke the club record held by César Rodríguez (1942-1955).
  • The Argentine player has now scored four goals in four different matches. Three of these matches are in 2012: vs Valencia in February (4 goals), vs Leverkusen in March (5 goals) and vs Espanyol today.
