REVIEW: Manchester City take title in dramatic fashion
FOOTBALL – Manchester City won their first English league title in 44 years after scoring two injury time goals in their 3-2 win over Queens Park Rangers on Sunday. Today’s Premier League ending reminded us of the 2000/01 finish in the Bundesliga when Schalke 04 fans were already celebrating when Bayern München scored in extra time on the final matchday. > The PL title race was decided on goal difference for the first time.
> Manchester City is the first club since Manchester United in 2007/08 to win the Premier League by scoring the most goals and conceding the fewest.
> Manchester City ended the season with 55 home points – equaling the PL record for most home points in a season set by Chelsea in 2005/06 and United last season.
> Sergio Agüero scored his 23rd PL goal of the season – equal-most of any player in a single season for City - Carlos Tévez’s 23 goals from 2009/10 – and also equal-most with Tévez as the most by a South American player in a PL season.
> Manchester United finished the season with a total of 89 points – the first side to reach this total in a 38-match PL season and fail to win the division.
