BREAKING - Portugal’s Proença in charge of CL final
FOOTBALL - The UEFA have appointed Portugal’s Pedro Proença as the man in charge in Saturday’s Champions League final. History says it is a decision that favours Chelsea. English clubs are undefeated in seven matches under this referee (5 wins, 2 draws), whilst Bayern have lost both matches under Proença, including the match that knocked them out of the Champions League last season (Bayern - Inter 2-3).
Antonio José da Silva Garrido is the only other Portuguese referee to have been in charge of a Champions Cup/Champions League final. With him in charge in 1980, an English club (Nottingham Forest) defeated a German club (Hamburger SV) in the final.
