BREAKING - Spain return 19 from 2010 World Cup squad

FOOTBALL - Spain have announced their Euro 2012 squad and it boasts 19 of the 23 players that were also in Spain’s victorious 2010 FIFA World Cup squad. That total might have been 21 if Carles Puyol and David Villa had not been ruled out by injury. The other two players not returning from that squad are veteran defenders Carlos Marchena and Joan Capdevila.

> Spain also return 12 players from the 23 that were part of their Euro 2008 squad. They are Iker Casillas, Pepe Reina, Sergio Ramos, Álvaro Arbeloa, Raúl Albiol, Xavi, Andrés Iniesta, Xabi Alonso, Cesc Fábregas, Santi Cazorla, David Silva and Fernando Torres.

> Four players in this Spain squad were also present at Euro 2004 - Iker Casillas, Xavi, Xabi Alonso and Fernano Torres. Casillas is the only player remaining from Spain’s Euro 2000 squad, although Casillas did not play a single minute in that tournament.
