FOOTBALL - Below the review of the Euro 2012 match between Poland and Russia.

> Soviet Union/Russia have not started a European Championship or World Cup tournament with two wins since the 1966 World Cup when they won the first four.
> Soviet Union/Russia have never beaten a host country at a European Championship or World Cup (0W-3D-5L).
> Poland became the first host country in a European Championship and World Cup to draw their first two group stage matches.
> The only host nation that has failed to win a group match at a European Championship was Austria at Euro 2008. France and Yugoslavia lost both matches in 1960 and 1976 respectively, but that was before the introduction of the group stages.
> Since the introduction of the group stages at Euro 1980, the only host nations that failed to win either of their first two matches at the tournament were Austria and Switzerland in 2008 and now Poland in 2012.
> Alan Dzagoev has now scored six goals in his last eight international matches for Russia.
> Dzagoev has become the second Soviet Union/Russia player to score three goals in a single European Championship tournament. Roman Pavlyuchenko scored three goals at Euro 2008.
> Pavlyuchenko is also the only player with more ECh goals for Soviet Union/Russia (4).
> Players with at least three goals after THEIR first two career European Championship matches: Gerd Müller (4 in 1972), Dieter Müller (4 in 1976), Klaus Allofs (3 in 1980), Michel Platini (4 in 1984), Marco van Basten (3 in 1988), Zlatko Zahovic (3 in 2000), Savo Milosevic (3 in 2000) and David Villa (4 in 2008).
> Jakub Blaszczykowski also scored the last time these countries met, in a friendly in Moscow in August 2007 (2-2).
> Aleksandr Anyukov played his eighth European Championship match, equalling Soviet Union/Russian record by Aleksey Mikhaylichenko.
