BIRTHDAY - 15 July: Mario Kempes (Football)

FOOTBALL - Mario Kempes is 58 years old today. His two goals in the 1978 FIFA World Cup final were instrumental in Argentina’s Mundial-winning campaign in front of a home crowd. Kempes led all goalscorers in that tournament on six strikes. He also demonstrated his scoring skills the Spanish league with Valencia CF, winning the Golden Boot twice and earning the nickname “El Matador”.
