REVIEW: Liverpool suffer heavy opening day defeat

No full time Liverpool manager has ever won his opening PL match in charge of the club – three draws and four defeats.

> Daniel Agger was sent off for Liverpool. He is the second Liverpool player to be sent off in their opening match and first since Joe Cole v Arsenal in 2010.

> Goalkeeper Brad Friedel played at the age of 41 years and 92 days old – the seventh-oldest ever player in the division.
