PREVIEW: Bolt can stay undefeated in Diamond League 200m races

ATHLETICS – Fresh off another Olympic three-gold haul at London 2012, Jamaican star Usain Bolt can extend his unbeaten record in 200m races at Diamond League level when he races at Athletissima in Lausanne on Thursday. Click ‘Read More’ for further details.

> Bolt has won all four Diamond League 200m races he has entered since the competition’s inception in 2010, at four different venues.

> Only David Rudisha (nine wins in the 800m) and Allyson Felix (six wins in the 400m) have won a single discipline more often at Diamond League level without so much as a single loss.

> Bolt has not lost an international 200m race in nearly five years, since coming third in the Memorial Van Damme in Brussels in September 2007. He did finish second to Yohan Blake in this year’s Jamaican Olympic trials, but rebounded to win Olympic gold in London.

> Bolt ran the 200m four times at Athletissima prior to the inception of the Diamond League, coming third in 2006, second in 2007 and first in 2008 and 2009.

> Opposing Bolt in Lausanne will be three finalists from the 200m in London, including bronze medallist Warren Weir (JAM).
