PREVIEW: Bundesliga Matchday 6

FOOTBALL – The following are some key facts and figures on a selected assortment of matches in the Bundesliga this weekend. The matches we have looked into are Fortuna Düsseldorf - Schalke 04, Werder Bremen - Bayern München and Borussia Dortmund - Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Fortuna Düsseldorf - Schalke 04

> These teams meet each other for the first time since the 1996/1997 season (in all leagues). Back then, both teams won their away match in the Bundesliga.

Düsseldorf have yet to concede a goal. They are the second ever (and the first ever newly promoted) side without a conceded goal in the first five matches of a Bundesliga season. The first team to do this was VfB Stuttgart in 2003/2004, which started off with eight clean sheets.

> If Schalke win, they collect 13 points after six matches. They reached 13+ points only three times before at this stage - 1971/1972 (15), 1963/1964 (13) and 2000/2001 (14).

Werder Bremen - Bayern München

Home and away, Bremen have beaten Bayern 26 times in Bundesliga history. This is more than any other Bundesliga team has.

Last Wednesday, Bremen won 2-1 at SC Freiburg. They did not win two matches in a row since October-November, 2011 (1-3 at FSV Mainz 05, 3-2 against 1. FC Köln).

Bayern have scored a Bundesliga-high 17 goals this season. This equals their club record after five matches, set in 1981/1982 and 1998/1999. Club record after six matches - 22 goals in 1976/1977.

Borussia Dortmund - Borussia Mönchengladbach

Since a 1-2 loss on April 18, 1998, Dortmund have remained unbeaten against Gladbach in Bundesliga home matches. They have won nine of the 11 matches since, including the last six.

However, Dortmund collected a perfect 15 points in their last five Bundesliga home matches. They did not lose their last 16, since a 1-2 against Hertha BSC on September 10, 2011.

Gladbach’s last nine Bundesliga goals have been scored by different players - Marco Reus, Igor De Camargo, Juan Arango, Mike Hanke, Luuk de Jong, Granit Xhaka, Patrick Herrmann, Martin Stranzl and Alvaro Domínguez.
