As a player, Borghi was part of Argentina’s 1986 World Cup winning squad that was captained by Diego Maradona. Like Maradona, Borghi started his senior career at Argentino Juniors. In 1981, Borghi arrived whilst Maradona completed his famous transfer to Boca Juniors.
