BASKETBALL - Precisely 50 years ago, on 2 March 1962, Wilt Chamberlain set an NBA record by pouring in 100 points for the Philadelphia Warriors against the New York Knicks. Like many of you, I grew up with the Birdman, the Magic and Air Jordan, but ‘Wilt The Stilt’ averaged more than 50 points per game and more than 25 rebounds in that 1961-1962 season. I repeat: ‘AVERAGED’. So, in my humble opinion, that leaves at least a little debate on who the greatest ever player was. His profile can be found here. Click here for a tribute.
FOOTBALL - Harry Redknapp is 65 years old today. The current Tottenham Hotspur manager has 579 matches under his belt as a coach in the Premier League era, which puts him in third place behind Alex Ferguson (756) and Arsène Wenger (588). Redknapp is the people’s favourite to lead England at Euro 2012.
