AWARDS SHOW: Iniesta is Best Player of Euro 2012
FOOTBALL - Andrés Iniesta has been named Best Player of Euro 2012 by UEFA. The mercurial Spanish midfielder was also one of only two players (Italy’s Andrea Pirlo being the other) in the tournament to pick up three Man of the Match awards - in both matches against Italy and in the encounter with Croatia. Iniesta takes over from teammate Xavi, who scooped up these honours at Euro 2008.

FOOTBALL - Where Lionel Messi scored his 50th goal for FC Barcelona this season last weekend, this time it was Andrés Iniesta’s turn to hit a 50 milestone. The midfielder is now undefeated (42 wins, 8 draws) in his last 50 La Liga appearances, equalling the record by Real Madrid’s Emilio Butragueño. Iniesta is personally unbeaten since Barça lost 2-0 against Hércules CF on 11 September 2010.
