FOOTBALL - Chelsea’s Ryan Bertrand has become the first player to make his Champions League debut in a final. We have found two cases of players making their European debut in a Champions Cup (1955-1992) final. In 1979 Trevor Francis scored in the final in his European debut for Nottingham Forest and in 1982 Nigel Spink helped Aston Villa beat Bayern Munich.
FOOTBALL - Seven players will be suspended for tonight’s final. Chelsea’s John Terry, Branislav Ivanovic, Raul Meireles and Ramires and Bayern’s David Alaba, Luiz Gustavo and Holger Badstuber will be sidelined tonight. No previous CL final involved more than three (in 2009) suspended players. Franck Ribéry is among those eligible to play. He was Bayern’s lone suspended player in the 2009/2010 final, which the Bavarians lost 2-0 to Internazionale.
