BIRTHDAY - 16 June: Giacomo Agostini (Motorcycling)

MOTORCYCLING - Giacomo Agostini is 70 years old today. He is the all-time record holder for motorcycling Premium Class championships (eight). His record of 68 Premium Class race wins was only broken in 2008, by Valentino Rossi. Agostini also won seven 350cc championship titles. He retired from motorcycling in 1977.

BIRTHDAY - 4 Jun: Mick Doohan (Motorcycling)

MOTORCYCLING - Mick Doohan is 47 years old today. He is a five time World Champion (1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998) in motorcycling’s premium racing class, winning 54 Grands Prix in the process. He never raced on home soil again as he was forced into retirement after crashing in Spain in 1999 and suffering multiple injuries.

BIRTHDAY - 4 April: Loris Capirossi (Motorcycling)

MOTORCYCLING - Today is Loris Capirossi’s 39th birthday. The Italian motorcycling legend made a record 328 career Grand Prix starts winning 29 of those and reaching the podium on 99 occasions. He won a World Championship title in his first two seasons in the 125cc and later won the crown in the 250cc (1998). He never won the elusive 500cc/MotoGP title, but his legacy lives on nonetheless.

BIRTHDAY - 16 February: Valentino Rossi (Motorcycling)

MOTORCYCLING - Today, we celebrate the 33rd birthday of Valentino Rossi, one of the most successful motorcyclists of all time. “The Doctor” has won nine world championship titles in three different race classes, a feat topped only by Giacomo Agostini and Ángel Nieto.
