The first golf major of the year, The Masters, begins on Thursday, 11 April at the Augusta National Golf Club. Tiger Woods is back to his winning ways and looks ready to continue his pursuit of the Majors records held by Jack Nicklaus.
GOLF - On this day, precisely 15 years ago, Tiger Woods won his first of 14 career Majors. The scene: Augusta National. The occasion: the 61st US Masters. Woods roared through the tournament, becoming the youngest player to be presented with the Green Jacket, a mark that stands until this very day. Woods won the 1997 US Masters by a staggering 12 strokes difference, even though he had turned pro only eight months earlier.
GOLF - It went the distance! Bubba Watson is the winner of the 2012 US Masters. Watson makes it 14 golf Majors in a row that have been won by different winners after Padraig Harrington won the 2008 British Open and the USPGA in the same year. The 14 Majors preceding this sequence saw six of them won by Tiger Woods. Bubba, here is your Green Jacket!
GOLF - Louis Oosthuizen laid down his ambitions of winning golf’s 2012 US Masters in earnest by hitting only the fourth albatross in the history of the competition. His three-under-par on the par-five second equalled the performance by Gene Sarazen (1935), Bruce Devlin (1967) and Jeff Maggert (1994). Our hat is off to you, Louis. Good luck in your charge for the Green Jacket, Sir!
