PREVIEW: CL semis – Real Madrid v Bayern München

> This fixture was also a CC/CL semifinal matchup in 1976, 1987, 2000 and 2001. In three of those four seasons the winner of this fixture went on to win the competition (only exception 1987).

> Ronaldo is unbeaten in CL matches in which he has scored for Real (12-2-0) and Manchester United  (11-0-0).

> Real can reach the CC/CL final for the 13th time (9 wins) and for the first time since beating Bayer Leverkusen 2-1 in 2002.

> Jupp Heynckes was coach of Real Madrid when they won their first CL in 1998, thus ending their 32-year-wait on lifting the CC. However, he was sacked at the end of that season after finishing fourth in La Liga. Heynckes was also coach of Bayern when they lost to Real Madrid in the quarterfinals of the Champions Cup in 1987/88.

> The 2012 CL final will be played in Munich’s Allianz Arena. The last time a club from the city that hosted the CC/CL final reached this stage of the competition was AS Roma in 1984. They lost the final to Liverpool after penalties. Only two clubs have won the Champions Cup when the final was in their own city, Real Madrid in 1957 and Internazionale in 1965.

> Real Madrid’s Xabi Alonso, Fábio Coentrão, Sergio Ramos and Gonzalo Higuaín and Bayern’s Alaba, jerome Boateng, Toni Kroos, Thomas Müller, Holger Badstuber, Philipp Lahm and Luiz Gustavo will be suspended for the final if booked.
