THE WAVE: Southampton v Manchester City

FOOTBALL – Manchester City took their first PL win at Southampton since 1 November 2003 in order to leapfrog The Saints to go second in the Premier League table. With a lead of just one goal after the first 74 minutes of the match, Manchester City saw Eliaquim Mangala being sent off with a red card. The match exploded in the last 15 minutes with Southampton trying to take advantage of the red card. Nonetheless, Manchester City scored two goals in the last 10 minutes of the match. THE WAVE: Atlético Madrid v Olympiacos

FOOTBALL – On Wednesday, Atlético Madrid qualified for the knockout stages for the second Champions League in a row by beating Olympiacos 4-0. The wave showed a dominance by Atlético over the entire match. Three big waves occured during the match, two in the first half and one in the second, resulting in four goals. Continue reading

FOOTBALL – On Tuesday, Schalke equalled their biggest CL home defeat and Chelsea equalled their biggest CL away win as the London side triumphed 5-0 in Gelsenkirchen. Was the run of play representative for that outcome? Our Wave says yes, especially in the first half when it was all Chelsea.
