FOOTBALL – Southampton drew 1-1 with Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday. FOOTBALL – By scoring a brace late in a 5-0 victory over Córdoba CF, Lionel Messi raised his total of official goals for FC Barcelona in the 2014 calendar year to 50. At club level, Messi has now cracked the half century in four of the last five calendar years. The only exception in that span was last seasson, when he finished with 39 goals for the blaugranas.

ALPINE SKIING – This weekend, Lindsey Vonn will be vying to equal the all-time record for World Cup race victories in ladies’ alpine skiing. The American comes into the weekend in Val d’Isère as one of the favourites for both the Downhill and the Super G.
